Snip Snip Snip

                             Snip Snip Snip

Today in tech we were making hats for our school camp. We are going to Mt Ruapehu and every ski camp beanies are made so the teachers can see us on the mountain. Every hat is made from three sections of thick green material and three fluro pieces of cotton.  Before we can sew all these pecies of fabric, we need to cut every hat out. There are 17 kids in our classroom which means there were 51 base layers to cut out and 51 fleuro pieces. After 1 hour and 30 minutes we finished, ready to sew them together next week.

Then we used a comb to swish all the colours together. We are really glad with the out come because it looks really cool when you get close to it. If you want to try this art and more visit...

My Dream Vehicle

Our task was to be imaginative and write about your dream house, vehicle, job, superpower and so on. I picked a vehicle and this is what I wrote
Enjoy!

My Dream Vehicle

My dream vehicle would be a massive hast eagle. It would be shiny metal with hundreds of different layers. Deep blue eyes with red edges. It would have 35-foot wings to thrust it forward. Talons like knives hanging off large muscular legs. A beak with a deathly curve like the sharpest pickaxe. Inside its head, there would be a small high tech cockpit for me to sit in.

When I'm flying over water. It would transform into a large grey megalodon with teeth like sharpened spears. It would have a powerful tail making it travel at marvelous speeds( like 275 km, that's quick). It would run on a turbine on the front of the tail that when going through water would spin and create its own energy.

The hast eagle would also run on turbines that again when flying would spin because of the force of the wind and create energy. The hast eagle could fly at a speed of 350 km and when it dives it could reach the speed of 700 km. The hast eagle would have individual metal feathers. The megalodon would have a sensor 1000 times better than a normal shark.
That's my dream vehicle.

Respect

Respect means to be kind to one another and treat other people the way you want to be treated.  If you are not kind to other people they will not be kind back to you. Even if they make you very angry just walk away don't be mean back. Respect also means that if somebody is in need e.g hurt Go and help them because that is the time they really need it.

Respect is also associated at school like not talking back to teachers and Using your manners. at school, you need to respect other people and their property. At school, there are a lot of people around you and all the small kind things you do to be nice to help the other people and they will start being nice back to you.

Do not litter When in the bush. The wildlife in New Zealand very unique like the tuatara the only living dinosaur. But if we do not respect nature and litter, these amazing animals will become extinct. Scientists are already finding plastic everywhere even the bottom of the ocean and 1 third of seabirds will have a piece of plastic in their stomach and they will die. And we can not have this happen to our native animals. So always respect nature.

Respect can be very simple like opening a door for someone or helping them carry something heavy. So always respect and soon the kindness will come trailing back to you!

Wellington Camp

Wellington Camp

On Sunday our class got on a bus at seven thirty and drove the 8 and a half hour trip to Wellington it was long but we got there in the end. We stayed at Silverstream Retreat.
0ne of my favorite bits was seeing the big gallipoli soldiers they were very detailed and looked like they were alive and about to jump out at you. It was very cool how their faces were almost shiny with sweat and how realistic there emotions were. Another highlight was going to Wellington Zoo because I saw my favourite spider the Mexican Red Knee Tarantula.

On Monday we went to Parliament and Te Papa Parliament was cool because all of the four buildings were connected by underground passageways.
On Tuesday we went to Weta Caves and the Zoo Weta Caves was awesome because of all the different customs guns swords and jobs they do there. It was scary because of how realistic some of the monsters were. It was cool to think that really famous actors had worn and used some of the stuff. On Wednesday we went to Zealandia it was really cool seeing Tuatara in their burrows and cheeky Kaka playing in the trees. We saw Weta hotels but one of them had a huge Tunnel Web in it.Then we went on a city tour to the train station and went to a place called Jumporama were they have foam pits and big towers of trampolines. I had never been to a jumping park and found it was very tiresome

On our last day we went on the Interisland Ferry to Picton on the way I got sick  but not  on the way back I didn’t. At picton we visited the Edwin Fox it was an old ship that had escorted people to New Zealand. It was huge and  one single bed was supposed to hold six people. It was very interest how they made such a big ship out of just wood and a little bit of metal.

We also went to a eco aquarium which had two one eyed Snapper and 6 Tuatara that we got to pat. Soon after we were on the ferry back to Wellington on the ferry we had fish and chips for dinner. It was late when we got back and every one was very tired. It was a big trip back and most people were half asleep but still all bubbling with excitement from what we had done.

It had been a really awesome camp.

Wellington Writing

We were on school camp on the big bus going to Zealandia. I was excited out of my skin, we finally arrived after a trip that had felt like hours because of busy wellington traffic. In no time we were in the dence bush looking for tuatara, and noisy birds. There was a deep sound, the ground started to shake as if it was dancing. Eeeekkkk BOOM a huge tree came down splitting me from the rest of my class. I fell down a muddy track. I bumped up and down hitting roots and branches that had fallen down. The earthquake had stopped now and I could hear the distinct screams of my class . I slowly came to stop I had cuts and bruises all over me. Broken trees were laid everywhere. I felt sick.

I was completely utterly definitely lost and to make matters worse it just had start raining…… A Lot

I sat down and started yelling for help but no reply. I was cold and wet when I saw a big tuatara. Fantails and tui and a even a small family of weka.Suddenly they started getting bigger and stronger. I ran as fast as I could to a little clearing next to a lake with a terrifiing mosasaurus jumped out taking out one of the hugeeee towering BRACHIOSAURUSES and pulling it under the water. I felt like I was going to pop I had just seen a mosasaurus take down a brachiosaurus.I had to get back. I was scared and frezzing wondering what could happen to me next. I ran up a hill avoiding all the compsognathus (small fast dinosaurs). As I scaled the hill I felt like a hero. I could see the entrance of zealandia and the rest of my class.

I started sprinting down I did not notice the rustle of leaves behind me. Suddenly I heard the slitting sound of a velociraptor on my right .I realized all the harmless creatures that live in Zealandia had turned into the very scary dinosaurs, and all the tui had turned into velociraptors. The velociraptor finished its call and then it was silence. Schh schhh schh three wide eyed velociraptors. The biggest one jumped one me and dug its huge third toe into me.It opened its mouth wide when. Boom Boom Boom a huge trex came bolling through the trees and took the three velociraptors.

I blacked out

I woke up on a hospital bed All my class looking at me.

I Had a huge stitched up bleeding scar on my chest

What an adventure.

By Blake

When we did our Wellington Writing we had to research first.
I learnt all the birds lizards and other animals. We had to put a twist on it in mine it's the dinosaurs
It was very fun writing and i enjoyed doing it.

Imagine A Night

Imagine A Night

Imagine a night were all animals you know and trust become beasts of the past.

Imagine a night in dense bush as all the trees were falling around you almost hitting you.

Imagine a night lost in bush listing to the distant screams of scared people.

Imagine night were ordinary lakes are seas are full of man eating terrors

Imagine a night when a place you know becomes a place no one

Imagine a night walking with dinosaurs

We had to write about a place in Wellington with a twist and then  then turned into a imagine poem
My place is Zealandia we had to some research about our place and then write an exciting story. It was fun putting the twist on the writing.
I found it a little bit hard to make the poem but it turned out good.

Reflective symmetry

In class we had draw a reflective shape. I enjoyed it because it was like doing art. A reflective shape is when the shape is the same on both sides. Everyone's was very unique. It was a cool learning curve.

Nelson Mandela - Fighting for Justice

Reflection
My learning was to read a journal and make a visual poster. My visual poster is about Nelson Mandela. It was hard getting all the information from the book  the paper and then making it into my own words. It was fun making it look fancy but I did make some mistakes on the way. Nelson Mandela was a great leader and has inspired many people.

Inquiry Term 2

My learning goal was being able to take data and write it in our own words. We had to present our writing in exciting ways. We were learning that artists don't just paint or draw. We all chose two artists. I choose Dan Reynolds (lead singer in Imagine Dragons) and Vincent van Gogh (painter). We had to make sure we did not plagiarise.

I enjoyed seeing all and planning my work so it looks great. I found it hard to edit all my work so it was ready to go on the wall.
